At Spark Foundry, I had the opportunity to take on Commonwealth Edison Company, or ComEd for short, in addition to my primary client, Dairy Queen, after expressing interest in Multicultural Marketing and sharing my Florida State University certificate in the subject matter. ComEd, the largest electrical utility in Illinois, focuses on regional markets. Due to Chicago’s diverse nature, I primarily worked on their Hispanic Heritage Month event as well as their Ice Box Derby event, which encourages young girls to gain interest in STEM studies. Aside from attending status meetings and sharing recap notes with the team, I pulled and analyzed our strategic audience’s media behavior patterns in order to create a client deck detailing the media strategy for the upcoming events. Working on a multicultural client allowed a lot room to break down cultural nuances using quantitative data. I was able to build a deck honing in on niche cultural recommendations, such as looking at media channels Hispanic Chicagoans prefer compared to the general market.
